Live translation

Follow the conversation with live translation.

When a conversation moves quickly, a live translation can help you follow its meaning while you listen. ThomLingo displays speech and translations from the audio you choose to share in Chrome.

How to use it

  1. Install the ThomLingo extension and sign in.
  2. Open a video or meeting in Chrome, then choose “Live translation” in the extension.
  3. Choose your languages, start translation, select the correct tab and enable tab audio sharing.
  4. Follow the speech and translation. Stop the session when you finish listening.

Built around real conversations

Follow an international team meeting, practice listening to an interview, or watch a lesson or video. Open the audio in a Chrome tab to read its translation while listening.

Read speech and translation together

Choose a source language or automatic detection, then choose the language you want to read. ThomLingo uses Soniox for speech recognition and translation. Results depend on audio quality, speech and connectivity.

Choose whether to keep a transcript

Speech and translations appear during your session. “Save transcript” starts off; when enabled, subsequent segments are saved to your account and can be revisited in Live translation history.

Keep track of your remaining time

Your wallet displays remaining trial time and credits. One credit represents one minute of live translation, with usage metered by the second. Check your balance and available packages in the wallet before starting.

Before you get started

Can it translate audio from desktop apps?

Sharing Chrome tab audio is the clearest supported workflow. Audio capture from an application window or the entire system depends on the browser and operating system; some choices provide no audio.

Do I need my own Soniox API key?

No. Sign in to ThomLingo and use your available trial time or wallet credits.

Are translations always accurate?

No. Noise, overlapping voices and specialized terminology can affect the result. Confirm important information with the speaker.
